Visit of the Pope to the Czech Republic 26.-28.9.2009
The event of the year for all believers arrives. The Pope Benedikt XVI. comes to visit the Czech Republic 26-28th September 2009. You can meet the Pope in Prague, Brno and Stara Boleslav. The program of his visit is really varied.
The Pope is scheduled to arrive at Ruzyně airport in Prague on Saturday, September 26th, in the morning. He will then meet political representatives at the Prague Castle and celebrate vespers together with priests and religious persons in the cathedral of Ss. Vitus, Wenceslaus and Adalbert.
On Sunday, September 27th, the Holy Father will travel to Brno and celebrate the Mass at Tuřany airport. In the afternoon he will return back to Prague and meet representatives of the Ecumenical Council of Churches as well as of the academic world.
Last day of the papal visit is the Monday, September 28th, solemnity of St. Wenceslaus, patron saint of the Czech Land. Benedict XVI. will celebrate the Mass on the occasion of the National Pilgrimage to St. Wenceslaus and meet young people in Stará Boleslav, where St. Wenceslaus was martyred in 935.

The Benedikt XVI. is the second Pope in the history, which visited the Czech Republic during his pontificate. His predecessor in 1978-2005 was John Paul II, who visited during his pontificate our country three times: in the year 1990, 1995 and 1997.
The autumn visit of the Czech Republic is the third visit abroad of the pope this year. Benedikt XVI. has already made twelve visits abroad during his pontificate and from the European countries he has already visited Germany, Poland, Spain, Austria and France.
